“So I walked out of the darkness and into the light
From fear of shame into the hope of life
Mercy called my name and made a way to fly
Out of the darkness and into the light.”
– Marvelous Light by Ellie Holcomb
I love the lyrics to this song. I listened to it again this morning after reading Psalm 36. The one verse that seems to always catch my eye in this psalm is verse 9 “…for with you is life’s fountain. In Your light we will see light.”
I love the way The Message translates it too. “You’re a fountain of cascading light, and you open our eyes to light.” I blogged about those words a couple of years ago and decided to go back and reread that post. I tend to need the reminders. Here are a couple of excerpts.
“Position yourself to receive God’s provisions” (sermon notes)
“We don’t perform to receive God’s love, we position ourselves to receive God’s love.” (sermon notes)
There is beauty waiting on the other side of the dark. There is light that we can only see and understand if we choose to travel and position ourselves in His light. As we move forward in expectation, God’s light becomes brighter and more beautiful. I don’t want to miss a single ray illuminating the path…do you?
In Your light we will see light.
We need to position ourselves to receive this light.
Holding onto those two truths today.
If you have time to read the entire blog post, it’s a cool GODincidence story. Those kinds of stories always bring joy to my heart!
And then give Ellie Holcomb’s song a listen. It’s a happy one about the beauty of positioning ourselves where His light can give us wings and set us free!
