I love those moments during prayer and worship when everything is perfect. You’ve caught a glimpse of His glory and the eyes of your heart are focused solely on His greatness. What makes these moments even more beautiful to me is that they will often come through loudest during times when our life resembles anything but perfect.
Instead, the circumstances around us are seemingly out of control. We are barely hanging on. We’re having trouble seeing the next step. Yet, at that moment, there is nothing but perfect peace, nothing but a deep assurance flowing through every vein in our body. God is holding onto you so tightly that, at that moment, you see and feel nothing but His love.
Gosh, I just want to bottle that up, don’ t you? I want to rein it in. Like the image of lassoing the moon, I want to lasso God’s perfect peace and never loosen my grip.
Lately, I’ve had this new Cloverton song, God Help Me to Be, on repeat. The words flood my heart with peace. They shout God’s greatness to me in the most quiet and beautiful way.
Happy Saturday, friends. Pour a cup of coffee, click play, close your eyes and simply be in His presence.
“Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.” Philippians 4: 6-7 Message
