Victories and Defeats

Tomorrow marks my one year blogging anniversary. I tossed around the idea of starting a blog months before this but hesitated because, what would I blog about?

164 posts later, I think I managed to answer that question, anything and everything!
Blogging, and writing in general, has been so much fun for me. It has also been a little scary. I think my thoughts and feelings about this past year can be summed up nicely with one familiar phrase. “The thrill of victory, the agony of defeat.” I remember hearing this phrase on TV when I was a kid. It was the intro to ABC’s Wide World of Sports. Often, this is exactly how I feel about what I write..sometimes I walk away pretty satisfied, other times not so much.

Like with some many challenging things we decide to tackle in life, getting started is often the scariest part of the whole experience. Writing is like that for me. I love the feeling I receive from “doing” but the idea of starting always scares me. This year I have learned that the joy I receive from writing is worth the risk I take from writing.

I am looking forward to another year of writing and blogging…the victories and the defeats!
