Driving Slow

It’s time for another link up with the Gypsy Mama. Friday is a time when we “write not worrying if everything is just right” If you would like to join in the fun Click Here.

TOPIC: COLOR

Last night as my son and I headed off to his Christmas program at school, he caught a glimpse of our neighbor’s Christmas lights through the winter trees.

“Mom, can we drive real slow around the block and look at the lights before we leave?”

“Sure, Honey”

We oohed and awed at the bright and shiny colors all around our neighborhood loop.   And, as we turned to head off to school, my son spotted another one.  This house was far more colorful and much more decorated than any of the previous houses.

“Mom, look…the jackpot!”

And, of course, this one deserved our biggest and most enthusiastic OOH.

My son’s request to drive real slow around the block reminded me of how important it is to do this.  The month of December often has a rushed feel to it.  We hurry to this event and then hurry to that event.  And, in the hurry, we forget.  We forget to drive real slow. We forget to open our eyes and breathe it in.

Beautiful. We love to drive slow and look at lights. This time of year, every time we get in the car at night, we always say, “keep your eyes open for light!”

Beautiful encouragement to slow down and smell the roses, or in this case, slow down to see the colors. 🙂 Love it, Eileen! Many blessings, sweet friend!

A great post that is well written! We also love to drive around town and look at Christmas lights. A great reminder to stop and enjoy the season without rushing through it.

Oh, yes: “And, in the hurry, we forget. We forget to drive real slow. We forget to open our eyes and breathe it in.” I so agree. And what a great reminder our kids are for us!

Hi Eileen – your post reminded me of this neighborhood nearby where every year they all compete for the best Christmas decorations and lights. Everyone drives through, slowly to look. I’m sure you’d be able to see it from outerspace. But it certainly is worth all the oohs and aahs. Great reminder to slow down, and enjoy our life’s colours
    God bless
