“John the Baptizer came fasting and you called him crazy. The Son of Man came feasting and you called him a lush. Opinion polls don’t count for much, do they? The proof of the pudding is in the eating.”  Luke 7:33-35 Message

After clicking over and reading these verses in the Message this morning, I immediately thought of the first portion of Psalm 34: 8, taste and see that the Lord is good.  Then I went back and read the same verses in both the NIV and KJV

“For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine; and ye say, He hath a devil.The Son of man is come eating and drinking; and ye say, Behold a gluttonous man, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners! But wisdom is justified of all her children.” KJV

I immediately had this thought:  You can’t dispute a changed life. 

Yes, the proof is in the pudding. We can list a hundred excuses. We can point out  how baffling it all sounds. We can focus on all the “hypocrites”. We can look at what’s popular and see that in the most recent survey our belief falls way down in the “not so cool” category.

Yet, the proof is in the pudding. The wisdom of it all is justified (proven) by the miracle of a changed life.

Nowadays, I don’t argue with people who like to throw up every excuse in the book for why following Jesus is crazy. It’s a waste of time. Instead, I point the naysayers to the indisputable fact of a changed life. That’s all.

I once shared with you my two-step testimony.  Here it is again.

1.Jesus touched my life.
2. I am forever changed.
The end.

That is all the proof I need.  Cause, you know what?  That pudding tastes pretty darn good to me.
