Failure’s Cheerleader

The other day my husband showed our son this famous TV commercial.  It’s a great message. Take a minute to watch it if you’ve never seen it.

When I picked my son up from school yesterday, failure was the first topic he wanted to talk about. (This is just more proof that he is my son. ;)) We discussed the benefits of failing.  He asked me to share with him again one of my favorite quotes.  And, I told him:

Falling down doesn’t make you a failure…staying down does.

I am my hardest critic. I hate failing. Yet after 40 years of living, I know that failure has grown me in ways that success has never been able to do.  I am currently going through a season of learning…which has a tendency to both frighten and excite me.

If I fail today, I want to remember…”I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life…and that is why I succeed” ~Michael Jordan

Simple and beautiful. I found you for the first time today from winsome wednesday. 🙂 I’m glad I did. I hate to fail also, and sometimes those seasons of crawling tend to dominate the seasons of skipping and running. Thank you for the reminder that we only fail when we refuse to keep going.
