Oh, how great are Godโs riches and wisdom and knowledge! How impossible it is for us to understand his decisions and his ways!
Who knows enough to give him advice?
And who has given him so much
that he needs to pay it back?
For everything comes from him and exists by his power and is intended for his glory. All glory to him forever! Amen.
Romans 11:33-36
I still remember coming into my son’s preschool classroom to pick him up one day. He was about 3 years old and was playing with another little boy. I could hear them arguing discussing how they should go about playing with the stack of dinosaurs in front of them.
I peeked through the door and listened to them. I smiled when I watched my son practice his negotiating skills. “I know! We can compromise!” His little hands were stretched out in front of him and I think I saw a little light bulb pop up over his head.
His little playmate readily agreed.
“Okay!”
Compromise. To make a deal. To negotiate.
Have you ever tried to make a deal with God? I know I have. One of the most memorable deals I attempted to make with him still makes me shake my head in disbelief. I had come up with a plan. A very fair plan, I thought.
God would win. And, I would win. Don’t you love win-win situations? Me and God were basically arguing over the stack of dinosaurs on the table and I had come up with a plan. Guess what, God? We can compromise!
I can still see God shaking His head and chuckling. Really?
Let me share with you what I’ve discovered about God. He doesn’t like to compromise. God is God and I am not. And God will go to whatever lengths to remind us and to teach us that He is the one in control. He is the one with the best plan. God has no desire to play the “compromise card” if it doesn’t address the one thing He is most concerned about…the condition of our hearts.
So, are there any areas in your life right now where you are trying to make a deal with God?
Put down your cards and allow Him to win. When He wins…you win.
Fabulous Eileen. I was chuckling a little bit when I read this. Oh my yes have I tried to strike a deal with God, what was I thinking?
Blessings to you.
Wow, Eileen. Awesome post. You have put this out so well. God is in control of everything. He knows the WHOLE plan and we can only see the next step. We should trust Him with it.
God bless
Tracy
Excellent post Eileen.
One of the most powerful prayers we have in our arsenal is to ask God to open our hearts and minds to accept, and be a part of His Will for us. When we become a part of His plan, we win. ๐
Have a Blessed Day!
Very powerful post, Eileen. This is always such an important reminder: "God is God and I am not."
When I saw your title, I laughed, out loud! ๐ They always say, "Want to hear God laugh? Tell Him your plans." God has a very detailed plan for me and I desire to follow His will. I love when you said, "When God wins, we win." Great post!! Love it!!
So true. When I was younger, I just said it. Now that I'm older, I have a more "mature," you know, flowery way of negotiating with God. But, God will have His way. That's what we really want anyway. Good word.
Great post, Eileen! Reminds me of what I posted yesterday at W2W about my cat. Sometimes we try to lead God or make deals with Him. But His ways are NOT our ways and His ways are best. I don't want to compromise. Like you said, "when God wins, we win."
I used to always be out to make a deal with Him…if He'd do _____ then I'd do _________. But I figured out that's not how it works. We are on the same side, He and I, and I'd be better off in His corner any day!
See ya this weekend ๐
Straight to the heart. Love your intro verses as well.
yes Eileen…there are and I know it and I am going through the process sometimes several times a day of laying the cards down and saying you win:)
Hope your having a wonderful time girl
