One thing I have always been passionate about is sharing my story about what God’s done in my life. It’s become more and more apparent to me over the past several months that I am not alone when it comes to this particular passion. We all have a story to tell. We all can benefit from stepping out and sharing our stories with others and listening to (or reading about) the journey others have taken. I am learning so much!
I think sometimes we hold back and don’t share our story with others because this thought goes through our minds…how could God possibly use me, I’ve made SO MANY mistakes.
Bingo!! That’s exactly why God can use you. From the beginning of time, we never see God deciding to use people who have it all together, or have it all figured out. I still smile every time I think about how God called the Apostle Paul “his chosen instrument.” Paul? Really? A murderer and a persecutor was God’s chosen instrument. Think about that.
Mistake makers know just how much they need God’s grace in their lives.
I wonder, if Paul were living on this earth today, if he would have blogged about being God’s chosen instrument. I bet you wouldn’t be able to shut him up! Listen everyone! Listen to what God did in my life!! Look how God is using me…the worst of sinners!!
This is a trustworthy saying, and everyone should accept it: “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners”—and I am the worst of them all. But God had mercy on me so that Christ Jesus could use me as a prime example of his great patience with even the worst sinners. Then others will realize that they, too, can believe in him and receive eternal life. All honor and glory to God forever and ever! He is the eternal King, the unseen one who never dies; he alone is God. Amen. (1 Timothy 1:12-17) Today, after reading Tara’s story over at House of Belonging, I linked up and shared the post I wrote last week titled My Journey.
I think when we share our stories we bring glory and light to God. It foes make us really vulnerable though and yet at the same time it's somehow very freeing to just let it all out. Thank you God that you move us to share and that you comfort us in all the emotions that go a long with it! Thank you Eileen, great post!
Hey Eileen,
When I started posting my story on my blog it was a feeling of total fear, fear of showing my weak places, my vulnerabilities, that I don't have it all together, I am messy and complicated, I am weak without God. But really we all are. I love this part: From the beginning of time, we never see God deciding to use people who have it all together, or have it all figured out. He uses the small, the weak, the vulnerable to glorify Him and show off how big He is. God is so great!
Sharing our stories is an important part of growing and learning and bonding. Plus when we share the good and the bad we can sometimes find healing and help others who are hurting. This is a great post.
