Into the Beautiful~ Surrender

I’ve been reading through the Book of Jeremiah lately. A verse in today’s reading resonated with me. Jeremiah, the prophet, was once again telling King Zedekiah some hard to hear truth about surrendering.

King Zedekiah responded, “But I am afraid to surrender,” the king said, “for the Babylonians may hand me over to the Judeans who have defected to them. And who knows what they will do to me!” (38:19)

The king’s words are so familiar to me.  But I am afraid to surrender

Raise your hand if you’ve been there before.

How many times in our lives do we know, deep down, what the Lord wants us to do but we resist because we fear the consequences? What we are being asked to do seems like certain “death.”

If we read further a long we discover that King Zedekiah refused to let go.  He held on tight and it cost him dearly.

This tragic story reminded me that, if we truly want to live, there comes a time when we must make the decision to do whatever it takes to move forward in the direction God is leading us. We relinquish the control and the pride.  We face our fear.  We let go, we jump, and we trust.

It will be uncomfortable.  And, it might be the hardest decision of your life.  You might not land where you wanted to land.  Yet, it’s in this decision to trust God 100% that something incredible happens…something beautiful.

Hi Eileen – another great post! I find I surrender when I have nothing else i can do in my own strength! Sigh, if I only surrender sooner, my life would not feel so much up hill! 🙂
    God bless

We can be some slow learner sometimes, can’t we? Grace, grace, grace…couldn’t survive without it.

I know just what you mean! Surrendering to His will will always results in my good, but I hesitate out of fear. I forget His great love for me and trust myself instead. Great post!

Jeremiah has been an interesting book to read. It’s depressing to me. So much disobedience and stubborn hearts. So much like…us sometimes.

Another lovely post Eileen. Surrender- that’s something I have been thinking about a lot lately. The song I Surrender All came to mind while I was reading this- laying it all down at the feet of our Savior. So thankful that he never leaves us nor forsakes us on this journey. God bless you. 🙂

Until we are willing to say, “I surrender all,” we cannot experience God’s greatest blessing of His perfect will for our lives. Thanks for the great post & for hosting, & God bless!
