Just Say The Word…

It’s Friday and time for another link-up with The Gypsy Mama. Friday is a time when we “just write for five minutes not worrying if everything is just right.” To join in the fun CLICK HERE.

TOPIC:  SEE

I will believe it when I see it.

That’s what we often say when someone tries to convince us something is true and yet we haven’t seen firsthand evidence of it.

Even Jesus’ closest followers would often ask for proof. Thomas wanted it after the resurrection. “They (the other disciples) told him, “We have seen the Lord!”
But he replied, “I won’t believe it unless I see the nail wounds in his hands, put my fingers into them, and place my hand into the wound in his side.” John 20:25

We want proof. We want to touch, feel, and see the evidence.

When the Apostle Paul saw the light on the road to Damascus, his life was forever changed. However, those who knew the old Paul had a difficult time believing the transformation was true.

“Back in Jerusalem he (Paul) tried to join the disciples, but they were all afraid of him. They didn’t trust him one bit. Then Barnabas took him under his wing. He introduced him to the apostles and stood up for him, told them how Saul had seen and spoken to the Master on the Damascus Road and how in Damascus itself he had laid his life on the line with his bold preaching in Jesus’ name.” (Acts 9:26-27 Message)

We want proof and yet what pleases God more are those who choose to see and believe with their heart rather than their eyes.

“When Jesus returned to Capernaum, a Roman officer came and pleaded with him, “Lord, my young servant lies in bed, paralyzed and in terrible pain.”Jesus said, “I will come and heal him.”But the officer said, “Lord, I am not worthy to have you come into my home. Just say the word from where you are, and my servant will be healed…When Jesus heard this, he was amazed. Turning to those who were following him, he said, “I tell you the truth, I haven’t seen faith like this in all Israel!…Then Jesus said to the Roman officer, “Go back home. Because you believed, it has happened.” And the young servant was healed that same hour…” (Matthew 8: 5-8, 10,13)

Lord, I desire the kind of faith that this Roman officer had, just say the word from where You are and I will believe and trust You.

Today, help our hearts to see and be touched by You…long before our eyes see You.

Wow, wonderful! Amazing five minute free write! And what a good prayer: “Today, help our hearts to see and be touched by You…long before our eyes see You.”
And the irony is… we do see, don’t we, once we believe?

Hi Eileen – great post. We need to see with our eyes of faith. I also wanted to just say thank you for your beautiful words of encouragement on my post today. One day I will be able to write freely about it and when i do, it’ll give all the glory to our great God.
God bless precious lady and have a blessed weekend and I pray your father’s recovery is speedy.
