God, teach me lessons for living
so I can stay the course.
Give me insight so I can do what you tell me—
my whole life one long, obedient response.
Guide me down the road of your commandments;
I love traveling this freeway!
Psalm 119: 33-35 Message
Do you remember Cliff Notes? I may or may not have been known to pick a few of these summary books up in college prior to a test- especially when I didn’t feel thoroughly prepared.
Sometimes, I show up to the Lord’s classroom and I am am not at all prepared to be there. My thoughts and heart feel scattered and distracted. But, thankfully, God never lowers my grade. In fact, He already took the test for me. And He aced it! And then I remember, I am never “prepared” to be in the Lord’s presence. It’s only because of who He is that it is even possible.
Sometimes, Professor God, is just asking me to humbly show up. When I do, He does the rest. Every. Single. Time.
dear God,
today
teach me lessons
give me insight
guide me
Beautiful!!
This is beautiful, Eileen! Why do we think we need to “do” things to prepare before we meet with God? He has already prepared the way, hallelujah! Lord, help me to humbly show up every time you call. Amen!
Sometime we are not fully there that is true, but sometime showing up is the best thing we can do- – God talks to us every day like he is just waiting for us to show up, to stand before him and listen to what he has to say.
I remember a nice nun saying one day “I Go to church every morning but most of the time I start to sleep after 15 minutes – God knows me but he knows as well that I will show up the next morning with the desire not to fall asleep again!”
I feel like that’s what I’ve been doing lately…just showing up and letting Him do the rest!
Amen… teach me lessons, give me insight and guide me! Beautiful Eileen:)
So powerful, “I’m never prepared” whew, takes the pressure off that He’s done it all! I’m thankful he provides the power and grace, all I have to do is show up expectant.
