So, the other day my seven year old son and I were out running errands. We had completed everything on our list except the grocery store. As we make our way into the store, my son happens to notice something that he hadn’t noticed before.
“Mom, my pants are on backwards.”
Sure enough, my son showed me the tag on his elastic shorts sticking out of the front of his pants.
I giggled at him and did what any good mom would do…teased him.
“You goofball, how did you get your pants on backwards?”
Fast forward, to yesterday, my same goofball son was at the neighborhood pool with me. We enjoyed splashing and cooling off for over an hour and then decided to take a snack break. As we sat munching on our potato chips and drinking our orange soda, I happened to look down at my black swim top. Something looked odd. What was it? Then I noticed the white tag sticking straight out on the right hand side.
“Oh my gosh.”
“What’s wrong, Mom?”
“My swim top is on inside out!”
My goofball son preceded to do what any good goofball son would do…teased his goofball mom.

I love this! Such a funny story and so wonderful to know that parents and children chide and laugh at their goofball selves. Thank you for sharing that with us – my whole day feels like it's off to a good start! (I'm visiting you for the first time from The Gypsy Mama)
Thanks for stopping by, Hilary! I am heading off to work…but planning on visiting as many other posts as I can later tonight. 🙂
Oh Eileen, You always have the best stories. One of these days I am going to get over to Gypsy Mama and do one of the five minute Fridays. Blessings to you Eileen, have a great weekend.
That's too funny Eileen, it's always good when our children know that we aren't really as perfect as they thought and that we need God to keep us straight just as much as they do! Happy weekend Eileen 🙂
I love this! What a great story. And how awesome to see another example of how we all can be a little backwards sometimes. 🙂
Cute story, Eileen. I love reading about your relationship with your son. 🙂
Have a blessed weekend friend!
Great story.
I tell my kids they are a chip off the old block – they say and do some of the goofball stuff I do. I wonder where they got that from?..
In our house when they would do something goofball my usual words were, "you goober head".
Hi Eileen. Great post. great moments.
God bless
Tracy
