One Word & Finish Year Wrap Up

I’ve been reflecting on the past year. I’m certain many of you are doing the same thing. I reread a few posts and have been thinking about the intentional steps I hope to take in 2013.

Last year, I picked a One Word it was FORWARD.

I also participated in Jon Acuff’s Finish Year and here is the list I wrote back in January 2012.

So, let’s start with the good news. I managed to successfully finish all but 2 of the items on my list.

  • In April, I finished my 2nd Half Marathon…and completed it 24 minutes faster than the first time I ran it!
  • On May 23, I released my first eBook, A Mistake Maker’s Manifesto & More. You can read it HERE.
  • In October, I ran another 10K. It was a costume race and my favorite part was running down the road dressed as Wonder Woman. 🙂

  • And tomorrow, (as long as I don’t give up today) I will have read the entire Bible through in one year!  Woohoo!!

The bad news…my master bedroom still looks unfinished and my husband and I had a difficult time managing two dates a month. I could list excuses here as to why I didn’t “finish” these items but what it comes down to is I didn’t make them a priority. And, isn’t that most often the reason we don’t finish things?

Intentional choices and steps…that is what makes the difference.

I haven’t quite completed my list for the new year, but I do know it needs to contain a few more scary items. I need to be willing to take more risks because that is the only way I will grow and learn. I want to step further out of my comfort zone in 2013.

What about you? How do you want to grow this year?  Is there anything you are planning on doing that scares you?

Congrats on the accomplishments and the encouragement to have goals. I think you are right, we need the scary ones to push us out of the comfort zone. I’m working on and praying about what He wants me to do this year and looking forward to accomplishing a few scary ones too. Happy New Year Eileen, you are one of my blessings of 2012.

Yahoo on your accomplishments Eileen, that’s excellent! Indeed, it is all a matter of balance. Excited to see what the Lord has in store for 2013 for all of us!! My 2012 was about the same as yours, I made some and missed a couple but I gave it my best and continued to grow in my relationship with Jesus 🙂
