Later today I will be stepping into some new and unknown territory. There’s a part of me that’s nervous. Transitions will often prompt those internal butterflies to flap their wings anxiously.
Last night I tweeted this in the writer’s chat group I sometimes participate in on Tuesday evenings:
It’s going to come down to prioritizing. A week filled w/ transitions. I’ll celebrate the small forward movements
Instead of going into freak out mode when I come across the unknown this week, I want to take the better approach:
- Communicate and ask questions…take the risk of looking stupid in order to learn what you need to learn.
- Learning something new takes time and effort….be willing to invest both.
- Extend grace…both to the people around you and also to yourself.
- Have fun! Remember that having the opportunity to journey into new territory is a privilege and an adventure. Life is more interesting and rewarding when we are put into situations that stretch and grow us.
Sometimes the butterflies need a little reminder where to fly.
What other tips would you give the butterflies?
