In the ladies bible study I lead at church, we have been reading the book Hungry for God, by Margaret Feinberg.
This week, the chapter is all about becoming intentional about readying our heart to hear from God. “Recognizing God’s voice means cultivating a seeking heart, a biblical heart, an inquiring heart, a listening heart and a patient heart.”
I loved reading the author’s take on the times we listen to God, step out in the direction we think God has called us to go, but it turns out to be a mistake.
“God knows how to handle my biggest mistakes. When I jump into the deep end of the pool and land with a stinging, awkward flop, God still uses the splash for his glory.”
Our mistakes and failures never hinder God from being God!
Linking up with Jen today over at Finding Heaven. Come join in!
God still uses my splash for His glory – I love that! Our mistakes don't hinder God from being God so we need to jump in. LOVE this word today, Eileen!
I love this: God still uses the splash for His glory!! That is awesome. Great encouragement.
Love that when we dive in, it might not look like much but when God gets done with us, we look like an Olympic swimmer! Great encouragement today Eileen!!
Hi Eileen – I was thinking 'ouch' before I even read your post. i love how you say, God even used our belly flop splash for His glory. Great post. Great encouragement to know that He is not fazed by our mistakes.
God bless
Tracy
I'm so grateful for this… "Our mistakes and failures never hinder God from being God!" I've got a lot of flops and while they do sting it's always wonderful to see Him put them to good use 🙂 Blessings!
Isn't it awesome that God can use anything to accomplish his glory. Love you site.
A quote I read yesterday came to mind when I read your post.
"You miss 100% of the shots you never take." -Wayne Gretzky.
There has to be belly-flops if we are ever going to accomplish anything.
Love your blog
What a powerful truth Eileen… We certainly make our share of "Belly Flops" in life, but thankfully, God can even use those for His glory!
Great post!
Have a Blessed Day!
"When I jump into the deep end of the pool and land with a stinging, awkward flop, God still uses the splash for his glory." How very encouraging!

Love the analogy! I am always making a spalsh for Him!
Eileen,
I always get a little giggle out of your posts, so glad that even our worst belly flops can be used for His glory,He can our worst mistakes and created something beautiful from them.
Blessings to you Eileen.
Hi All, "God still uses the splash for His glory" I've been thinking about that quote all day. It's definitely a good one! Our group is really liking the study. 🙂
Janet, that's a great quote!
I loved this, Eileen! Thanks for the reminder that even my worst mistakes can be used for His glory…and even in the the splashes, God is still God.
Awesome post!
What a beautiful, gracious picture of God using us for His glory – mistakes and all! Thanks for sharing this, Eileen.
Love this post friend! I've flopped a bunch…even today…so glad He can use my belly flop to water the flowers in the flowerbed by the pool. 🙂
You had me at "Risk…" And wrapped it up nicely with "Our mistakes and failures never hinder God from being God!"
Thank you!!
Hey hon! Found your blog from Facebook. I used to blog…and this blogpost has got me thinking that it's time to pick it up again. Yep, I loved the risking the bellyflop, and trusting God to be there to teach me in case I was wrong. I really enjoyed the reading this week 🙂
Great picture. His body is going to be as red as his hair in a second, I think.
