Running with Sprinkles

Writing helps to untangle the thoughts inside my head and heart.  Deeper and clearer understanding comes as my fingers type the words onto the blank page.

Sometimes the process feels like a run on a bright, sunny day.  Each word is another steady step hitting the pavement, I can’t wait to discover the beauty around the next bend.

Sometimes the process feels like a celebration.  I’m a guest at this amazing party and the words pour out and fall to the page like sprinkles on a cake.

Other times, the process feels more like I’m cleaning out a cluttered house. I’m figuring out where things go. I’m tossing out those things gathering dust or those things I’ve held onto for way too long.

I shared this beautiful song on Facebook yesterday from All Sons & Daughters called Oh How I Need You.  Whether I’m running on a sunny day, pouring sprinkles on cake, or doing some serious cleaning and renovating, I hope each word leads me closer to Him.

Lord I find You in the seeking
Lord I find You in the doubt
And to know You is to love You
And to know so little else

I need You
Oh how I need You
Oh how I need You
Oh how I need You

Lord I find You in the morning
Lord I seek You everyday
Let my life be for Your glory
Woven in your threads of grace

Light glorious light
I will go where You shine
Break the dawn
Crack the skies
Make the way bright before me
In your light I will find all I need
All I need is You

God rewrote the text of my life when I opened the book of my heart to his eyes.

I always say things shake out of my head when I run. I guess it’s my first step in writing sometimes. Untangling my thoughts, so then I can write (and eat cookies!).
