“God gave Solomon very great wisdom and understanding, and knowledge as vast as the sands of the seashore.”
1 Kings 4:29
These verses were timely for me to read today. My dad had a stroke recently and it’s becoming obvious that wisdom and discernment will be things my two older brothers and I will need plenty of in the next couple of weeks and months. The questions we’ve asked ourselves lately don’t have simple answers. The doctors still don’t seem to have any idea how much of the damage from the stroke will end up being permanent, telling us that the brain is strange and it will be difficult to gauge how, when or if it will heal.
In 1 King 3, Solomon prayed to God for discernment above anything else. He confessed to the Lord his limitations and said, “but I am like a little child who doesn’t know his way around.”
Dear Lord, I feel that way right now.
I read the above verse this morning and was encouraged today.
knowledge as vast as the sands of the seashore
I want that too, Lord.
Are you struggling today to know what step to take next?
Spend some time asking Him for the wisdom and discernment on how to proceed.
That is an awesome prayer. I often think I have it Ll figured out only to find I don’t. I am praying for your Dad, you and your brothers for peace, comfort, guidance, and wisdom.
-Peace
Thanks, Allen!
It is a good prayer Eileen. It is made even more powerful by the current struggle you are going through. I will include you in my prayers.
Thanks, Bill. Love when things we read are so timely!
AMEN…
🙂
Hi Eileen – such an encouraging post today. Its so true that we should spend time with Him and in His word and even if He does not show us the next step, He gives us peace and settles the unsettledness. God bless and praying for you and your family
