Woohoo! It’s great to be home. This year’s trip to the Dominican Republic (DR) was beautiful. Last night, I felt compelled to write about a special moment I shared with a Dominican dog, I’m sure I will be sharing so many more thoughts with you as the days go by. I told my husband tearfully yesterday afternoon that it’s amazing how God will teach us huge lessons about love and life through the simplest encounters. I was petting a dog…and God taught me a lesson. I LOVE how He shows up everywhere. We need to journey through our days with our eyes open…ready and willing to learn.
I am slowly transitioning to life back home in North Carolina. If you didn’t get a chance to follow the journey, here is a summary of what I’ve been up to for the past week. DR Mission Trip 2011.
Now, on to some song sharing. My first song idea for today was going to be video footage I took on my camera of my last morning in the DR. The night before flying home, our team always stays in a hotel on the Caribbean Sea near the airport. And each year, I get up early in order to catch the sun rising over the water. This year, I captured the sound of the waves hitting the beach. It’s a “song” I never get tired of hearing.
However, the file was too big for me to post here. And, I’m still too tired from my trip to try to figure out just how to share it with you. SO, my second song choice is one of the songs sung last Sunday when I attended Central Church in San Juan de la Maguana. Each year, I will normally hear at least one familiar tune being sung in Spanish by our Dominican brothers and sisters.
My heart smiles when I hear different languages coming together and worshiping and praising One Savior. So, this is not a new song, but one which reminds me of my morning sitting by the ocean and reflecting on God’s greatness.
“We are His portion and He is our prize
Drawn to redemption by the grace in His eyes
If grace is an ocean, we’re all sinking”
Now it’s your turn. What song has been dancing around in your heart lately? I would love to listen to it. And, it just might make a another heart dance today too. Please share the name of it or link to it in the comments section.
