Life is one grand, sweet song, so start the music. ~Ronald Reagan
I’ve been doing quite a bit of thinking about how influential music has been in my life. One song can have the potential to shift my entire attitude or outlook. A single verse will sometimes inspire me or be a stepping stone to a powerful lesson.
So, here is what I would like to try. Each Monday, in the comments section, I would like you to share a song that has recently made an impression on you. Leave the song title and a link to the song (if you can) for the rest of us to check out. I would also like for you to share with us how the song encouraged you.
The songs you share don’t have to be extremely profound or life changing. It could simply be a tune that brought 4 minutes of increased joy to your heart as you drove down the road. Anything goes!
In fact, some of the silliest songs can fill us with joy.
For instance, last week I baked my son banana muffins. I was whistling “Do You Know The Muffin Man?” for the rest of the afternoon.
Or, perhaps, it’s an older song but you recently discovered it again and it touched your heart in a new way. Like this one touched mine again. My dog and I took a walk last night and “Grace Like Rain” by Todd Agnew started playing on my iPod. This age-old verse resonated with me.
“When we’ve been there ten thousand years, bright shining as the sun, we’ve know less days to sing your praise than when we first begun.”
I love being reminded that this is not our final destination. This life is only a tiny piece of the puzzle. I also like being reminded that not only do I have the pleasure of enjoying music in this life, but think of the songs of praise we will be singing with HIM in the next!
Now it’s your turn.
What song is encouraging you lately? What tune has recently inspired you or brought a smile to your face? Please take a moment to share it with us. Perhaps it will inspire someone else today!
