My son has recently started playing basketball on a team. His coach is very good at allowing all the kids sufficient playing time regardless of their skill level. At my son’s last game, I observed Sean sitting on the bench at one point during the game when the coach was allowing another child a chance to play in the game.
Sean sat on one side of the coach while another little boy sat on the other side of the coach. The scene made me smile. These two little boys and the coach were the only three sitting on the long bleacher bench but they could not have been sitting any closer together. Neither boy seemed to grasp the concept of personal space. But the coach didn’t seem to mind at all.
This, of course, made me think of our Heavenly Coach. I wonder how different our lives would be if we made the conscious choice to stay this close to Him as we journeyed through our day. I have a hunch God wouldn’t be the least bit offended. I have a feeling He would even wrap an arm around us and gently pull us in closer.
Are you choosing to sit next to the Coach today?
He has the game plan.
He has the best strategy.
Don’t miss it.
Because you’ve always stood up for me,
I’m free to run and play.
I hold on to you for dear life,
and you hold me steady as a post.
(Psalm 63: 7-8 MSG)
The closer we stay to our Heavenly “Coach”, the more smoothly our daily “game” goes… Good reminder today Eileen. 🙂
Have a Blessed Day!
My husband coaches our oldest son’s baseball team every year so I totally get this analogy. 🙂 We have to stay close to the coach. Great reminder, Eileen!
Jesus is my Life Coach…
What a beautiful picture, Eileen! I want to stay close to the Coach throughout my day – it’s the only way to win. 🙂
Eileen,
I think you may be right our heavenly coach would not mind at all how close we sat to Him, I wish more people would understand that, that the only way to go about this life is sit as close to Him as we can get.
Blessings to you Eileen.
