Still Sinners

Five Minute Friday: STILL

It’s Friday! It’s time for another link up with The Gypsy Mama who has taken Five Minute Friday on the road this week and is posting over at (in)courage.

Five Minute Friday is “a time when we just write for 5 minutes not worrying whether everything is just right.” If you would like to join in Click Here.

While we were still sinners…

It’s a love I still have a hard time wrapping my brain around.
You hung there with your body broken and beaten.
You said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.”

Even then, while suffering a pain I can’t even begin to imagine,
you still loved me.

I think of the thieves on either side of You.
One mocked you.
One found you.
“Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.”

Even then
Still you were loving us
and healing us
and offering us life
with You.

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)

Beyond beautiful, Eileen. I love what God spoke through you in this profound post. My favorite line?

    One mocked you.
    One found you.

We always have a choice, don't we?

If he still would then, he still will now. I take such comfort in that. Thanks for your perspective.

Great way to take the word "still" and tell the Good News! He loved us then and He still loves us. And He will still love us when we mess up. Still. Beautiful post, Eileen. 🙂

That he loved us…even in His pain of dying, suffering for us. What a beautiful, unconditional picture of love this is. Great writing! ~ Jen
