“See, God has come to save me.
I will trust in him and not be afraid.
The Lord God is my strength and my song;
he has given me victory.”
With joy you will drink deeply
from the fountain of salvation!
In that wonderful day you will sing:
“Thank the Lord! Praise his name!
Tell the nations what he has done.
Let them know how mighty he is! ”
Isaiah 12: 2-5
I read Isaiah 12 this morning and these words stood out to me. Anytime Scripture refers to the Lord as becoming “my song” and instructs me to “tell the nations what he has done,” I can’t help but do a couple of cartwheels on the inside.
I love singing about His goodness and His greatness. Who He is and what He is capable of accomplishing in our stories is the ongoing melody playing in my heart. I had the chance to sing those praises again last night. I’m attending a new small group and, last night, several of the members had a chance to share their stories with the rest of the group.
I loved hearing about the unique steps we’ve each taken in order for God to bring us to where we need to be. It makes me smile to think about how differing journeys can somehow bring a bunch of strangers together. Last night, was our second time meeting together. But, last night, was the first time I thought we really “met” each other. Story has the power to do that. I loved hearing about how the events that took place in a person’s life left a passion burning brightly in their hearts. It’s a beautiful thing!
I can’t wait to see where God is leading and what He has up His sleeve. To borrow a word my 10-year-old son uses (and recently told me is a much cooler word than “cool’) I’m bracing myself for epic.
“I’m singing joyful praise to God. I’m turning cartwheels of joy to my Savior God.” Habakkuk 3:18 Message
