TOPIC: BRAVE
Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.
1 Corinthians 16:13
For years, I had this verse written on a slip of paper and hanging on my fridge door. It inspired me to be brave during a season in my life when I was feeling anything but. Every time I wanted to take a drink, it was a daily reminder to me that the One I was clinging to was infinitely bigger.
I didn’t have to hide anymore. I didn’t have to run away in fear anymore. I could turn and face the giant who was pursuing me. I could stand up to him. I could be brave.
Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.
His strength filled me up in a way that alcohol never ever could.
I’m not sure whatever happened to that verse on my fridge door. But, I do know, that it now hangs permanently on the door to my heart.
What a lovely 5 minutes worth of words and feelings Eileen. Thank you for sharing and being brave.
Your neighbor at Lisa-Jo’s place.
Thank you for coming by, Mary.
Great reminder of how to hide the Word in our hearts. It never seems like bravery at the time but each of those decision points requires it if we are to make the right choices.
So true, Mike.
Thanking God for your bravery and honesty to share. My mother wasn’t as brave as you are and her life is shattered alone. Nice to connect through FMF.
That breaks my heart, Shelly. It can certainly become a thief. It robs of so much. And, no matter what we are struggling with, that bravery comes from Him. Somethings are too much to overcome on our own strength.
Wow! I am so touched by your post of how powerful God’s word and truth is compared to the world of temptations we face. Thank you for reminding me that keeping the Lord’s word in our hearts (memorizing too) is our best offensive weapon!! Much blessing to you.
Thanks, Dionne. It is a great weapon!
You did what God told Israel to do. Nice.
Good advice back then. Good advice today!
With God all things are possible…To write those words on your heart means so much to Him. This is a wonderful sentiment, clearly written, and truthful. Moving from a note paper to our hearts takes time and practice, yet the rewards are worth the effort. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks, Jade!
Hi Eileen, great example of how God’s word is not only alive, but powerful. Great post. God bless and have a great weekend
Tracy
Alive and so powerful!
I love that that verse now hangs on your heart! It’s so important to filter what we let in through that door by the truth of scripture. Great five minutes, thanks for being brave and sharing your heart.
Love that, Beck. It’s very important to filter.
I love that the verse “now hangs permanently on the door to [your] heart.” That is beautiful. And thank you for sharing a part of your brave journey here on these pages. Your brave words shine light and hope. Thank you.
Thanks, Denise!
