This word tends to get over-used. I’m tired as I type this post. I had my husband set the alarm clock early so I could write before going to work today. I told him to set it for 5:30…he sets it for 5:00. He says it’s so I could get up and do more push-ups. 😉 I’m tired. But it’s a good tired because I’m up drinking coffee and writing…two things I love doing.
The good kind of tired feels, well, good. Like when I finished a half marathon back in the Spring. Or when I’ve had to wake at 1:00am for the past several years to catch a flight out of the country for another mission trip. That’s a good tired feeling.
But, I’ve also experienced the bad tired feeling in my life too. The kind of tired David writes about in Psalm 32, “For day and night your hand was heavy on me; my strength was sapped as in the heat of summer.”
As I think about the differences, I am reminded of something beautiful. Regardless of why we are tired, God is always the solution. He provides the strength we need.
“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” Matthew 11:28 Message
