It’s Friday and time for another link-up with Lisa-Jo for Five Minute Friday. Friday is a time when we “write for five minutes not worrying everything is just right.” You can join in the fun HERE.
PROMPT: SONG
Other than the singing birds outside my office window, the gurgling song the coffee machine plays each morning is my favorite tune to hear. In a dark and sleeping house, it arrives like a singing telegram sent to brighten my day.
We’re moving in couple of weeks. I’m going to miss the sound of the geese splashing and honking behind our house. I’m going to miss the tired song my old refrigerator sings. It’s a country song, I think, and goes something like this, “you should have put me out to pasture five-years ago!”
Yet one thing’s for sure, wherever we land, wherever home ends up, my morning liquid telegram will know where to reach me.
You can be sure it will continue to sing.
“Let’s get this party started!”
Loved this! It is my favorite song to hear first thing in the morning! There truly is a comfort that comes from that familiar “song”. I was your neighbor at FMF & your song was playing as I read this :))) Too funny!
Blessings,
Joanne
Ha! Nice the song plays for you too!
May this move be a wonderful beginning to a grand adventure …
Thank you, Linda! I really am trying to look at it as an adventure.
I also love the sounds of early morning in my home also:). I bet you are excited about moving. Think of all the new adventures God has waiting! 🙂
Yes, excited. It’s beginning to feel real.
It’s exciting to start a new adventure! It’s like a whole new song for your life, but keeping some of the old (like the coffee!!) I like too how even the old, rickety refrigerator has a song….sometimes we forget that even things that aren’t fancy and new still are beautiful and have music all their own. Thanks for sharing!
“A whole new song.” I like that Maria!
and NEW music awaits…
Indeed!!
Love it! I love the song of birds singing outside my window. I’m not a coffee drinker, but I love my energy drink in the morning. Good luck on the move!
Thanks, Tammy! It’s okay that you don’t like coffee…I still like you. 🙂
LOL!!! I love your take on this weeks prompt. I am not a coffee drinker so my liquid telegram comes from the hum of the soda machine when I get to the office. When are you moving ? to Georgia, right ?
Amy, I have a good friend who prefers soda too! We move the last week of May. Yes NW Georgia.
I have had as a blog title for a while “Coffee: The Whistle of Happiness.” I make my coffee French press, so I use a teapot to boil the water. The whistle of the water boiling is the first good sound I hear most mornings!
The Whistle of Happiness. I like that, Chris. For years, I’ve referred to the explosion of gurgle at the end of the brewing process the “grand finale” …like a fireworks show. The sound of happiness! Enjoy your whistle. 🙂
I love this snapshot into your life, Eileen. My coffee is made in the old-fashioned way by filter paper dripping its contents soft into enamel pot (if it ‘aint broke why fix it?) and my kettle souunds more like a jet engine taking off than a welcoming whistle – though we used to have one like that. It’s funny what soothes and shapes our lives. At least your singing “liquid telegram” will accompany you to your new home and be a reassuringly familiar presence in an unfamiliar place. And God’s grace will be sung over you each new day just as before.
Joy, your old fashioned coffee sounds lovely! I would love to sit an have a cup with you. 🙂
And me with you, Eileen! Perhaps we could do it ‘virtually’. You let me know when you’re having a brew in your new home and I’ll raise my mug in celebration with yours – barring a few hours time difference! If only we could meet up for real. That would be lovely. One day we’ll sup together in our Father’s house for sure. 🙂 xx
