The One Thing You Must Do

People of the Second Chance had this as their Facebook status yesterday.  “Don’t be ashamed of your story. It will inspire others.”

My unspoken response to this was: Yes! Yes! Yes!

What I ended up writing in the comments section instead was: The only time I ever felt shame about my story is when I was too afraid to share it. Sharing is the path to freedom! Shout it from the rooftops!

Secret sins and hidden failures lose their power over us when we choose to bring them out into the light. That doesn’t mean life is all of a sudden problem free or effortless. No. Sharing might be the most courageous and difficult thing you ever do. But, it also accomplishes more than you can even begin to fathom!

Is your goal and desire to be free and to find healing from all your wrong turns?
Is your goal and desire to help others on this journey through life?

Sharing who you are and where you’ve been is the path that leads to both of those desires. It’s a win-win decision.

When we choose to stop allowing the shackles of shame to imprison us, amazing things begin to happen through us and in us.

Bravely own your story today.

Stop believing the lies that I once believed…

I’ve gone too far in the wrong direction.
It’s too late to start over.
It’s too late to make a different choice.
I made my bed, now I have to lie in it.
I’ll ignore the pain and it will go away.
I’ll hide behind the mask because it’s safe there.

Lies, Lies, and more lies! And the only place it leads you to is deeper shame and tighter shackles.

Instead, choose to turn your eyes and your heart to the Truth today…

God is bigger.
It is never too late to begin again.
Nothing you have done or will do can ever make God love you any less.
God specializes in resurrecting dead and broken things.

Who needs to hear your story today? Don’t you dare keep it to yourself. Find a safe place and share.

Eileen, more and more I’m coming to this realization. No one comes to my blog or your’s to find out what we know. They come to walk with us on our journey, to join our story. It’s an incredible experience.
