Your road led through the sea,
your pathway through the mighty waters—
a pathway no one knew was there!
I read this verse this morning and smiled. I love looking back (as many of my readers might know) and remembering all the secret pathways God has revealed to me along life’s journey.
It still amazes me.
There’s a verse in the full version of The Serenity Prayer that popped into my brain just now.
“Accepting hardships as a pathway to peace.”
It’s the trips through the barren wilderness, the parched deserts, or the raging seas that seem to make the green meadows and calm waters that much more precious to us.
Life hurts. Death stings.
Yet, the healing and the comfort that God supplies in the midst of it all brings more life and joy then I ever thought was possible.
I can’t help but think of Good Friday and how tomorrow we get to celebrate how God asked His only Son to journey down the most horrific pathway in order to save us.
His followers didn’t understand. They couldn’t comprehend how such a painful path could inevitably bring about peace and healing. They couldn’t see the secret path that God could see clearly from start to finish.
Sunday was around the corner.
The solid ground.
The calm water.
The rising sun of a new day.
