The Story You Can Choose

It’s Friday!  That means it’s time for another edition of Five Minute Friday…a time where we “write for five minutes not worrying if everything is just right.”  You can join in the fun HERE.

Prompt: STORY

If you’ve spent any time strolling around the pages here on The Scenic Route, I hope you’ve gotten the sense that one of my passions in life is to leave a story of hope behind.

On Tuesday, I wrote these words in this post. “If we desire to live a better story, a story we can reflect back on with a sense of peace and contentment, then it all comes down to where we choose for the story to start.”

Trusting Him is the best place to start our story.  In fact, it’s also the best climax to our story and the best ending to our story.  Ideally, each chapter of our story should be titled Trust Him.  Unfortunately, not all of my chapters have begun that way.  Instead they’ve started with titles such as Doubt, Denial, Pride, Fear.

I am thankful that as long as there are still pages to flip then I get to choose the title of the next chapter.  I get to choose.  You get to choose. And that chapter can start right now…on this page in your life.

I am also thankful that for each time one of my chapters has veered horribly off course, God has taken his pen of grace and made even that scene beautiful and usable again.

Your marvelous doings are headline news; I could write a book full of the details of your greatness.  Psalm 145:6 Message

Yes! Truth be told, all of our stories have chapters that are filled with brokenness. But if we are blessed, a strand of hope is woven strongly through each page.

Praise Him! It’s amazing looking back over even my worst day/situation/etc and He receives the glory. I’m thankful.

I love that scripture passage in the Message, awesome. And thankful for the way He writes your story, my story. That he holds the pen and all we have to do is listen and obey.

I get to choose? Oh, Lord, that I may choose well…choose trust…choose obedience, always.

I’m glad I chose to visit your post! Love you, friend!

Amen, amen, amen! Where our story begins determines where it ends. Living by faith in Christ, we trust that he will always place us back on track!

Love all of this, Eileen. It’s amazing that we get to choose. It’s amazing that He offers His grace when we choose poorly. It’s all an amazing, livable story.
