Committed to the Mission

Each day Jesus was teaching at the temple, and each evening he went out to spend the night on the hill called the Mount of Olives.
Luke 21:37

I was reminded again when I read this verse of how committed Jesus was to the task he was given to carry out.

Every day he got up.  Every day he went out.  Every day he did the work he was assigned to do.  Every day he came back.

We see several scenes in Scripture when Jesus is said to have been at the Mount of Olives.

He wept over Jerusalem there.
He taught his disciples there.
He rested and recharged there.
He, on the night of his betrayal, came back there.
He sang praises to His Father there.
He ascended to heaven there.

I was reminded today that we are each given a mission as we make our way through this life.  We each have specific tasks we are called to do.  The verse above reminded me that we not only need to be faithful, disciplined, and committed but we also need a place to retreat to every single day.

I hope you know your mission. I hope you are going out today and faithfully carrying it out. And I hope you remember to come back, to rest, and to gain strength for tomorrow.

Good word! Thanks for the encouragement on this Monday when I am dragging and tempted to go back to bed 🙂 Instead, I shall carry on!

Great post – great reminder. We get so caught up in so much that we forget sometimes the mission is simple – to do what He lays before us each day, and not spend it fretting away worrying about tomorrow.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you find it too! The hardest thing to do is place our trust and faith in an unseen God. But if we are willing to seek, then it usually means our hearts are open and willing to learn. That’s good!
