Expect God To Get Here Soon

“One reason many of us never get an answer to our prayers is that all we do is pray.  You can’t just pray like Elijah; you have to act like Elijah.  You can’t just get on your knees; you also have to look toward the sea.” ~ Mark Batterson, The Circle Maker

After I read this, the words “expect God to get here soon” came to mind. They are from the Message translation of Psalm 31:24.

Be brave. Be strong. Don’t give up.
Expect God to get here soon.

Elijah (in 1 Kings 18) is a great reminder to pray with expectation…believing that the miracle we seek is just over the horizon. We don’t give up, we keep our eyes open, and we daily look for signs that God is moving and working on our behalf.

I don’t know about you, but I have a hard time doing this. I get tired and I think that God must have chosen not to answer the way I prayed he would. But, these words reminded me this morning that if the issue is still on my heart’s radar then I need to continue to pray and expectantly look.

Are you tempted to stop praying for the miracle?

Let me encourage you (and me) to not give up today.  Look toward the sea and pray again.

Angie, I’m not done yet but have been enjoying it. I have a terrible habit of “giving up” on certain prayers long before I think I should. It’s challenging me!

I heard that book was awesome, I haven’t read it yet but I plan to. I am so guilty of giving up on prayers long before I should, great words today to keep praying, I just assume the answer is no but the other night we were talking in small group about how God wants us to pursue Him, if He answered every prayer in our timing and in our way we would really have no reason to pursue Him but rather only go to Him when we needed something.

    Blessings to you Eileen.
