More Race to Run

Sometimes when I hit publish post on a blog entry, I feel like a marathon runner who decides to leave the race before reaching the finish line. I’ve run an impressive distance but stop short of the ultimate goal.

A half marathon is a great accomplishment. I ran one back in April. However, what if, instead, I had signed up for a marathon but half way through the race chose to stop running? What if I decided to make 13. 1 miles the finish line even though I knew I had the energy to continue running?

I would be disappointed. I would go home feeling as if a goal was left unfinished. I would also feel as if I had missed out on the reward that comes with perseverance and hard work.

I love writing about The Scenic Route. I love sharing all the cool things the Lord continues to teach me on this journey. But, I’m slowly discovering something else. I often hit publish post before the race is completely finished. I quit running. It’s a nice finish but I can still see road stretched out in front of me. There is still more race to run.

God is clearly stirring something in your heart, Eileen. There's more of the story for you to tell. God has laid a path out before you, so don't stop running. I'm excited for you!

That is true! The race isn't over. Thank you for sharing your huff and puff moments as you finish it! Love ya

I totally relate to this, it's been hard for me to write because even in the midst of one of these blog posts I'm still struggling and still running this race. Keep running for God girl you can do it 🙂

I've been having those moments more regularly as of late too Eileen; you feel like your posts just aren't quite finished… like there's more to say.

I'll pray that God leads your heart to best fulfill His Will for you, and that the second half of your race refreshes your spirit even more than the first.

    Have a Blessed Day!

Jon, I like how you phrased that…"the race picks up with the next post." I love blogging but think I might step back a little from daily posts once my son is in school. I need time to expand some thoughts that I seem to abbreviate when writing a post.

Lisa, still not sure what He is stirring. But, I guess that's where just putting one foot in front of the other and moving forward comes in!

Kelli, the race is definitely not over. I've always loved the verses in scripture that refer to this journey as a race. We need to persevere.

Mandy, You are correct, life is not put on hold, the struggles still happen and sometimes we simply need to hold on and trust He knows the direction we need to go next.

Tracy, still not sure what that would be but holding on and trusting!

Phil, it's an interesting feeling, don't you think? And thank you so much for the prayers. Will pray that for you too!

    Glenda, 🙂

Alisa, not sure…I'm just going to keep running as long as there's a path in front of me to run on 🙂
