As many of you know there are big changes on the horizon for my family. My husband found out at the end of February that his employer is needing to transition him out of his current position. That’s my polite way of saying he is getting laid off. His last day with his current job is scheduled for May 1.
Since being made aware of this, my husband has been looking for another job. You might remember this post I wrote about being thankful for the DOORS he’s had the opportunity to walk through.
Well, one of those doors has opened up and we will be moving to Georgia. We are thrilled! This move also brings us closer to family. What a blessing.
However, you know when things are progressing so smoothly that you can’t help but think, this has been a little too easy, Lord, when are we going to hit a pothole? And sure enough, yesterday, we hit a pothole. Yet the crazy thing is…I’m not freaked out about it.
As soon as I heard about the upcoming challenge my mind immediately thought about God’s faithfulness. Not just God’s faithfulness over the last couple of months…but over the span of my lifetime.
I read this tweet from Rick Warren this morning. “When uncontrollable circumstances leave me out on a limb, I just let go. God catches me every time.”
Folks, if Rick Warren can say this so soon after losing his son to suicide…I can certainly say it when I encounter a little pothole in the road. I have journeyed with God long enough now to know that the trials in our lives are designed to deepen our dependence on Him, to bring us closer to Him, to remind us of how much we need Him.
I am not sure what challenges are ahead for us…but I do know who I need in the driver’s seat.
What about you? What have you learned recently about God’s faithfulness due to uncontrollable circumstances in your life?
