I had a dream last night. I can’t for the life of me remember what the dream was about but these were the words on my heart when I woke up. Cast your cares upon the Lord and He will sustain you. It’s a portion of Psalm 55. As I started thinking about this verse, I realized that it is basically an If…Then verse. If I do this…then He will do this.
Christ’s love for us is unconditional love. We don’t deserve His love and we can’t earn His love. All we have to do is claim it. God is love. This can’t change. But, how we respond to this love that He extends to us… can change. If we desire to reap all the blessings that He wants to give us through a relationship with Him and if we desire to continue growing up in Christ then the relationship becomes very conditional.
If I cast my cares on the Lord, then He will sustain me. (Psalm 55:22)
If I trust in the Lord with all my heart and do not try to figure it all out on my own…then He will make my path straight. (Proverbs 3:5-6)
If I put on the full armor of God…then I will be able to take my stand against the devil’s schemes. (Eph 6:11)
If I bring everything to You in prayer and thanksgiving…then You will give me peace and Your peace will guard my heart and mind. (Philippians 4:6-7)
If I confess my sins to You…then You will forgive the guilt of my sin. (Psalm 32:5)
If I humble myself before you, Lord, then You will lift me up. (James 4:10)
If I seek You with all my heart, then I will find You. (Jer 29:13)
If I fear You, then You will give me wisdom and understanding.(Proverbs 9:10)
If I call out to You in truth…then You are near to me. (Psalm 145:18)
If I trust in myself then I am a fool but if I walk in wisdom…then I am kept safe. (Proverbs 28:26)
If you, Lord, are the stronghold of my life…then I can live fearlessly. (Psalm 27:1)
I was looking at all these verses and one common denominator that I found was that each one takes humility on our part. My pride always seems to play a big part in whether or not I am growing in Christ. I like what Psalm 25:9 says, “He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them his way.”
Dear Lord, I desire to be humble enough to hear Your voice today.
