Today is the day…

but FIRST let me tell you something that made me smile again this morning.  I opened up YouVersion to do some reading and these were the words staring back at me:

Strength from Weakness

On Monday, I switched my Bible reading over to the Message version, just to change things up a bit.  Strength from Weakness was the section header over 2 Corinthians.

My grace is enough; it’s all you need. My strength comes into its own in your weakness. Once I heard that, I was glad to let it happen. I quit focusing on the handicap and began appreciating the gift. It was a case of Christ’s strength moving in on my weakness. Now I take limitations in stride, and with good cheer, these limitations that cut me down to size—abuse, accidents, opposition, bad breaks. I just let Christ take over! And so the weaker I get, the stronger I become. (v 9)

I’m flying home to AZ today.  Most likely, I will be having some hard conversations with my dad  about his limitations. I needed this reminder today.

NOW on to something BIG and EXCITING.  My words have been published in a book!  I am honored to be a part of an incredible project called Couch Rebels. The reason I am so excited about this is that a portion of the book sales will go directly to helping those in our world who need access to clean water.

CausePub has teamed up with Blood: Water Mission and every book sold  provides clean water to three people for one year!

I just bought my copy HERE

I typically have no desire to be a pushy salesperson but this for a beautiful cause.  I hope you will consider buying your copy today!

Oh, and to get back to what was making me smile this morning (other than the fact that you and I have the opportunity to “get off our couch” and make difference today) was that after I purchased my copy of the book, I reread the story I submitted and came across these words:

We are weak. He is strong.
Each time I’ve chosen to obey and move when He says move I’ve discovered this to be one of the beautiful results of obedience: God is faithful to show up and give us the strength we need to do the task He calls us to do.

Eileen, I need this today too-the reminder of His strength in my weakness. Good stuff! How awesome of God to give you just what you needed this morning. I will be praying for your time with your Dad. with love, L

Congratulations on having your words published in the book! Exciting.

I like to mix up my reading in different translations as well. This year I’m reading in “The Voice” version and it has shed new light on some passages I’ve read over and over. Thanks for sharing The Message here.

Thanks, Lisa! I love variety in translations too! It does make us look at the familiar with fresh eyes.

Eileen: Praying the Holy Spirit will guide you in your conversation with your dad. I love how God speaks scripture to us right when we need it and often times from several different sources, but all with the same message. God is so Good like that!
    Blessings to you!
