Turn Up the Volume

It’s Friday! You know what that means. It’s time for another link up with Lisa Jo for Five Minute Friday. Friday is a time when we “write for five minutes not worrying if everything is just right.” If you would like to join in the fun click HERE.

That is why the Holy Spirit says,“Today when you hear his voice, don’t harden your hearts as Israel did when they rebelled, when they tested me in the wilderness.” Hebrews 3: 7-8

Whenever I share my testimony, I talk about how I used to turn down the volume on God’s voice:

It was the only way I could continue running in the direction I wanted to run

The voice was constantly talking to me

the voice would become so loud

I would try to drink it into submission

The voice was persistent

The voice was patient

The voice pursued me

every single day

One day

I made an uncomfortable choice

I turned up the voice

The sound was painful

it hurt my ears

the longer I chose to listen

the more irresistible, the more beautiful it became

I turned it up some more

It broke through the pain

It broke through the shame

It restored and healed my soul

Today, I listen to the Voice

Eileen, this is beautiful. That moment when you turn up the volume and listen to Him, even against your own will – that’s some power right there! I’m choosing to turn up His Voice today as I step into another treatment team meeting for my daughter in 20 minutes!
