Where to Begin?

“I think God doesn’t spell out everything for us in life, but He tells us how we can write our lives better; and trusting Him implicitly is always the right place to start.” ~ Bob Goff

I love this reminder. If we desire to live a better story, a story we can reflect back on with a sense of peace and contentment, then it all comes down to where we choose for the story to start.

There have been times in my life when I’ve chosen to allow my story to run ahead of God, my pride filled heart was certain it knew the best way to go.

There have been times in my life when I’ve allowed my story to run away from God, my fear filled heart too scared to walk down unfamiliar roads, too scared to flip the page.

Today, I want my story in His capable Hands. When He says move, I want to move. When He places a hand on my shoulder and recommends I stand still, I want to heed His warning. I don’t want to rush ahead to the next chapter when God says there is still more for us to write in this one.

God rewrote the text of my life when I opened the book of my heart to his eyes.
Psalm 18: 24 Message

I haven’t started it yet. I just wrapped up a book I was reading for work so I will be starting it soon. I’m looking forward to reading it! 🙂

I read the introduction by Donald Miller and it had me hooked from that.

Not a fan of the Message…what?!?! Just kidding. I always read the NIV first but then I love looking up in other versions too. It sometimes sheds a different perspective on the familiar for me. 🙂

This is so true, and sometimes so hard to do. At least for me it is. I can easily rush ahead, with great enthusiasm and good intentions. But whenever I run ahead of God, I always end up on a “scenic route” that He didn’t intend. I’m so thankful He allows u-turns! 🙂 Beautiful post, Eileen.

Like you, I’ve also tried many times to take the pen and write my story my way. it’s a good thing I realized He writes much better than I do. Good reminder for all of us, Eileen. Thanks!

Stopping by from Denise’s. Oh I’m so glad. I run ahead of God so many times. I’m getting better, but still need to slow, breathe, and follow Him. Thanks for these words.
