Scrabble With Jesus

It’s my mom’s birthday today. She would have been 77 years old. Every year on the blog I like to do something special in honor of this day. As many of you know, my mom and I were Scrabble fanatics! Today I wrote about her playing Scrabble with Jesus. Credit: Dreamstime

She sits down at the Scrabble board
picks out her hand of seven

She looks across the table as her Lord
now chooses His

He lifts each tile from the bag
with His nail scarred hand of grace

And, yes, you’re probably right

Sometimes she asks Him for another game
just to see those hands again

She watches them lay down
each tile on the board

She watches and remembers
how they touched her life that day

She watches and remembers
Her game of life…forever changed

So beautiful. And I’m sure Jesus does play Scrabble. Really loved the tender words that seemed to just tiptoe together. Thanks for sharing. My mom’s birthday was either today or on the 28th of May. She would have been 89. She died when she was 44.

Yes, and you and I will play Scrabble with Him one day too! I hope He takes it easy on us. 🙂 Your mom was young too, Anne. Thank you for sharing.

Beautiful! Celebrating your mother’s life with you. Looking forward to when we shall see Jesus face to face… Just wow!
