I love those who love me,
and those who seek me find me.
(Proverbs 8:17)
We find God when we look for Him earnestly. Half-hearted searches don’t cut it. Do you remember a time when you misplaced something precious? Or maybe is wasn’t something precious, maybe it was simply your car keys or your credit card. What did you do?
When this happens to me, I have hard time thinking about anything else. What I need to find, dominates my thoughts and my actions. I think about the last time I remember having the lost item. I think about all the unusual places where I might have left it. I shake out pockets. I turn over cushions. I look under car seats. I open the freezer door. Do you remember the desperate feeling that often accompanies the search? Nothing else matters at that moment…we need to find what we are seeking.
This is the kind of heart that captures God’s attention. This is the fully devoted heart God has His eye on. When we recognize our deep need for Him and then make the choice to pursue him with everything we have, God promises that we will find Him.
When our hearts make the shift from a casual take it or leave it attitude to a determined life or death attitude, God arrives on the scene in ways that will blow us away.
Our stories collide with His Story and the ultimate love story is revealed.
Listen, God, I’m calling at the top of my lungs:
“Be good to me! Answer me!”
When my heart whispered, “Seek God,”
my whole being replied,
“I’m seeking him!”
Don’t hide from me now!
Proverbs 27:7-9 Message
How desperately are you seeking Him today?
love the analogy…
it so awesome that not only does he desire us to seek him…but he Pursued us first and and loved us first!!!!
Amazing to think about, Arny!
We absolutely had similar thoughts this morning, Eileen. 🙂 God wants us to seek Him, and when we do, He promises that He will be found. He is always worth the effort we put forth.
Love your thoughts today ~ Many blessings sweet friend!
Hard not to think about the best love story, on Valentine’s Day! Thanks, Lisa.
