Prompt: Beautiful

Reading thru Acts this month. My heart smiles every time I read about the Beautiful Gate in Ch 3. Every.single.time. Thank you, Lord.
I posted that tweet and Facebook status earlier this week. If you know me at all, you know how much I love the word beautiful. I’ve often talked about the idea of picking out themes to the stories we are living. In hindsight, I can flip back over the chapters of my life and see common threads woven through each season. The word beautiful can be found in each and every section.
Beautiful has accompanied me on my journey ever since the day I sat at my kitchen table at eight years old and tearfully told my mom that I would never be able to spell it correctly.
There have been seasons in my life that have been far from perfect, yet the Lord has opened my eyes to the beautiful hope I can find in Him. It’s a Hope that reaches far beyond the here and now.
There have been times in my life when I’ve tried to hide my imperfections and my sins from the rest of the world and I discovered that the beautiful I was searching for could only be found on my knees crawling along the broken road.
And each time I’ve wandered off the path or taken a wrong turn, the Lord has patiently waited for me on that beautiful road called Redemption.
Each chapter of my life has been a lesson and a reminder to me that the beautiful we seek is discovered along the journey to our destination. It’s His grace that takes even the ugly parts of our stories and somehow shapes them into something useful, something incredible,…something beautiful.
let me add a great big amen.
🙂
With him in our lives, the experiences we have can only be termed as beautiful. Especially when we are surrounded by others who believe in God’s love.
Yes, Colline, I love His ability to transform things!
I love when God does that!! ~sharon
Me too!
Dear Eileen
I also wrote about the Beautiful Gate today!! Yes, our lives, even the ugly parts are like a beautiful tapestry our Lord is embroidering. He uses everything that happens and use it as a thread of cotton to work it for good!
Blessings
Mia
I left a comment, Mia. It’s one of my favorite chapters in the Bible!
Yes, Eileen. This is our story, this is our song. And that photo captured it all …
Now, I’m humming that song. Thanks, Linda.
Yes, true beauty can be found on our knees. Wonderful post
Crazy beautiful cycle!
“I discovered that the beautiful I was searching for could only be found on my knees crawling along the broken road.” Yes, it can only be found on our knees. There is such grace and freedom when we realize that, isn’t there.
PS. I still struggle typing the word Beautiful. I always double check to make sure I spelled it correctly
Yes there is! Well, I’ve shared it before…but I will share it again, Amy. It’s the tip my mom gave me 32 years ago. “Eat An Umbrella” Just remember that the e a u spell eat an umbrella. I know it’s silly but I guess that’s why it has stuck with me for so long!
So true. And amazing how God can bring so much beauty into this fallen world of ours!
Yes and AMEN to Him shaping our stories into something beautiful as we surrender them to Him…every. single. time. Yes!
Yes sister. I love reading about how God has woven beauty throughout your entire life… There is more to come. Think about when we are finally home- when we will literally behold Beautiful face to face… Just wow. Am speechless 🙂
Yes there is! What a day that will be! Oh, and I just subscribed to your blog…I thought I had but I think I’ve just been seeing them on Facebook!
“I discovered that the beautiful I was searching for could only be found on my knees crawling along the broken road”. Amen, Eileen. My story echoes those words too. We are hard-wired to search for beauty. Our souls long for it and seek it out everywhere. But we are only fully satisfied when we find it in God. The road of redemption is truly a beautiful one to walk down. A beautiful post that reveals a heart made lovely by His grace. Thank you! 🙂 xx
Lovely post! You are so right: Life is full of lessons and redemption is always near. I Love your perspective!
Beautiful post. So wonderful that you can see your walk with God this way.
